New Commission Complete: West Highland Terrier in Oils
I’m thrilled to share my latest completed commission — a beautiful West Highland Terrier portrait painted in oils.
Westies are one of the most beloved terrier breeds in the UK, and capturing this one was a joy. The challenge with any white-coated dog is rendering the subtle warm and cool tones hidden within the fur — from soft lavender shadows to creamy highlights — while keeping the personality shining through those bright, dark eyes.
This portrait was painted on linen canvas board using traditional oil painting techniques, building up layers of colour to achieve depth and a lifelike quality that only oils can deliver.
